One of the reasons why your Mac might be having problems connecting to Wifi is if it has no IP address. But how can you solve no IP address Mac problem? Let us find out.

Step 1: Check the IP address on your Mac

- On the Apple menu, choose System Preferences
- Select “Network” from the view menu
- Click “Wifi” and then select “Advanced” in the lower left side of the screen
- From the top of the screen, select the TCP/IP tab
- If there is no IPv4 address, then you need to sort it out
Step 2: Solve the Problem
- In the same window, click “Renew DHCP Lease”
- Confirm the correct TCP/IP settings for your network from the administrator
- Enter the correct IP address and check whether the laptop now connects to Wifi.
Delete and Reset WiFi Connections
Another option is to delete all known Wifi connections and reset. Here’s how:
- On your Apple menu, select System Preferences
- From the view menu, choose “Network”
- In the lower left side of the screen, click “Wifi” and then select Advanced in the lower left side of the screen
- From the top of the screen, click “Wifi”
- Select each of the names in the preferred networks box and delete them by clicking the “-“ icon below the box
- After deleting all names, reboot the laptop and discover the available Wifi networks afresh
At times, the problem could be that your Mac’s automatically selected location is not 100% accurate leading to the no IP address problem. In such cases, we need to manually set location by following these steps:

- Go to System Preferences>Network>Wifi
- Click on the drop-down menu in the Location box, which should be reading “Automatic”
- Click the “+” icon and name the new location then click “Done”
- Under Wifi, it will read “No IP address”
- Click “Advanced” then “TCP/IP”
- Select “Renew DHCP Lease” to get it to assign a new IP address
